The Self-Destruct Button

Derek and Meredith try (unsuccessfully) to be discreet as they spend the night together at Meredith's house, but their haggard appearance speaks volumes to everyone - including Bailey, who warns Meredith to end the relationship. Meanwhile, George suspects an anesthesiologist of drinking on the job but is reluctant to speak up about it, Alex treats a former competitor who now finds honor in self-mutilation, Izzie has to deal with a patient who won't let go of his girlfriend - literally, and Cristina seems to be battling a case of the flu.


Meredith and Derk wake up together. 


Derek sneaks out. 


A man comes in who swallowed his girlfriends keys. 


A man schedules his gunshot appointment. 


The man said his friend shot him cause he likes the scars. 


A young girl comes in with abdominal pain. 


George looks at a young girl who's left leg has seizures. 


George thinks he smells alcohol on the dr. 


Bailey and Meredith talks to the girl's parents about the illegal surgery their daughter got in Mexico. 


Dr Shepard looks at the little girl. 


Izzy prepares to get the keys. 


They work on getting the bullet out. 


Bailey and Meredith reverse the surgery on the girl. 


The little girl gets ready for brain surgery. 


George says something to dr Shepard about the other doctor possibly drinking. And gets kicked out. 


Izzy retrieves the keys from the guys throat. 


Meredith tells the girl's parents the surgery went well. 


The man gets a fever from his gunshot.


The anesthesiologist falls asleep. 


They can't save this gunshot tattooed guy. 


Derek apologizes to George. 


The little girl survives her brain surgery. 


Christina takes a pregnancy test. 


Derek and Meredith just go to sleep. 




If Tomorrow Never Comes

Izzie tries to get George to find the courage to ask Meredith out. All of the interns are in awe when a woman comes in with a record breaking tumor, but it is so far advanced that the woman's prognosis is not good. Now that Bailey knows about Meredith and Derek's affair, their jobs are in jeopardy, and she advises Meredith to end it. Meanwhile, Cristina and Burke's secret relationship is also getting more complicated...


There's a new patient with a huge tumor. 


Izzy tells George to ask Meredith out. 
 

There's a patient whose whole body constantly shakes. 


Bailey confronts Derek about giving Meredith special treatment. 


The mans daughter talks to Meredith about possible surgery so her father can walk her down the aisle. 


The surgeons make a decision about what to do with the tumor. 


The surgery to remove the tumor has begun. 


The man decides to go ahead with the brain surgery. 


Izzy has to open a Bain bedside to remove a blood clot on her own. 


The woman with the tumor, lost too much blood and couldn't make it. 


The man is able to walk while controlling his shaking. 


Meredith meets Derek after work. 

Shake Your Groove Thing

Meredith realizes that she must take on a lot more responsibility when she is told that her mother needs to sign over all of her assets to her. As Izzie prepares to have a party for her boyfriend Hank (the scale of which is unknown to Meredith), Meredith participates in her first heart surgery. During the surgery, she fears that she has damaged the patient's heart and is unsure of whether or not she should speak up, because she could get kicked out of the program. Meanwhile, Cristina and Burke share some comments over coffee. At the party, Meredith and Derek do some sneaking.



Meredith doses off is surgery. 


Meredith realizes that her nail punctured the glove while holding the heart. 


Meredith tells George what she just did. 


Derek tries to get Meredith to go out with him. 


Meredith goes home to find the party izzy put together. 


Meredith, George, and Christina drink and dance. 


Izzy skips her party in order to watch brain surgery. 


Derek shows up at the party. 


Derek and Meredith kiss. 


Dr. Bailey finds Derek and Meredith in his car. 


Christina and Burke hook up.

No Mans Land

While George is feeling emasculated because of the sisterly way Izzie and Meredith treat him, Izzie is assigned to a patient about to lose all of his masculinity. Meanwhile, Meredith continues to hide her mother's affliction, and Izzie deals with sexual harassment in the work place.


Dr Shepard deals with a man who has nails in his head. 


Izzy gets a case where a man is left to lose his masculine parts. 


The man with the nails survives. 


Alex posts pictures of izzys modeling days all over. 


Derek and Meredih talk. 


Christina and Burke have a moment.
